Boa Viagem translates to good trip in Portuguese. This collaged wine bottle label was created for a 30th birthday party celebration. LaShawn Marie is originally from Newark, New Jersey (USA) by way of St. Ann, Jamaica and currently lives in Accra, Ghana.
The collage celebrates her journey to 30 and captures many of the challenges she’s overcome as well as the accomplishments she’s achieved.

Hummingbirds - represent her Jamaican culture
Sankofa tattoo - An Adinkra symbol that means to look back in order to move forward
Ankara fabric - sold in mass quantities in the outdoor markets of Ghana and often worn by Lashawn.
Green leaves - represent the abundance of lush greenery in both Jamaica and Ghana
Graffiti Marie - represents growing up in Newark and the graffiti she fell in love with as a teen
